First… Don’t throw anything out, move anything out of the room, or box anything up. I.e. If you know what room the problem is, then keep it in that room.Clothing and bedding should be moved directly to the laundry area in plastic tubs (without holes), or plastic bags, and washed immediately. In fact, simply placing dry fabrics into the dryer on a high heat for 30 minutes will kill bedbugs and their eggs. Very few over the counter pesticides are effective helping a homeowner significantly reduce a bedbug infestation, and less than 100% control is unacceptable. Having said that, steam, diatomaceous earth, bedbug proof mattress covers, and 95% rubbing alcohol are all excellent tools in the fight to reduce the population of bedbugs, until you can get help from a professional.
