Indoor pests: The acids from insects (such as the floating hairs of insect larvae such as carpet beetles, dermestid beetles, other beetles, or the larvae themselves. springtails, ants, moths, walking dandruff mites from pets, and more also exude irritating formic acid) which simply touching your flesh, even without biting can irritate. These problems are often linked to food sources such as dead mice, dead birds, and old food sources. Once removed the infestation may be mitigated. Particulates from the hairs and cast skins of insects just mentioned may float in the air and cause discomfort as they touch skin or are inhaled.
Vacuuming often with a HEPA filtered vacuum (wear facemask while emptying), cleaning sofa cushion tops and other surfaces with a towel dampened with water, or air filtration and fresh air exchange systems, treatment of invading pests, treatment of food sources inside walls can all be helpful, however… regular cleaning and treatment by a pest professional is recommended for those suffering psychologically with fears of pest invasion (parasitosis).
Irritating outdoor organisms: Acids from mites falling from trees, chiggers in soil, hairs from many caterpillar species, oils from plants, and many more can also irritate. Irritation can sometimes be avoided by scrubbing acid or oil affected skin with strong soap. Little can be done about outdoor organisms more than 10 feet from your home, (as that is their domain). Treatment of the siding, mulch, and shrubs, and sealing the exterior foundation of the home can be helpful in preventing future invasions of mice and etc.
Irritation can occur hours after contact, which makes the offending source difficult to discover, Identify, or control, even for pest professionals. Can we help? The short answer is often, (but not always) …YES. We can help with inspection, identification, cleaning, sealing, and on-going protective treatment.
Please keep in mind that many times the problem can be internal, in the form of medical conditions (such as parasitosis, diabetes, dry skin, allergies, reaction from hormones and medication, just to name a few) that manifest as irritations that also feel like bites or crawling. For medical conditions, other than inspection of your home environment, there may be little or nothing we can do.
That said…
In many cases the problem is REAL, but unidentified. In those cases, we may be able to help. More often than not, these treatments can be accomplished utilizing natural minerals or methods which keep pesticide use inside low, rather than complex chemicals.
Symptoms (rash, welt, bruise) may differ greatly with each pest species or each person, can look similar to reactions caused by other pest species, and are quite often difficult even for medical or pest professionals to differentiate.
Expect identification and on-going protection from unidentifiable pests to require more frequent visits, more thorough treatments, and therefore more expensive to determine and treat than common identified pests.
Please understand that satisfaction cannot be guaranteed, as… without an identified pest, the definition of successful control, from the view of the person(s)affected, can rarely be quantified or achieved.
Identification and inspection will be performed by university trained technicians often requiring the use of flashlights, blacklights or infrared, often followed with microscopy by Certified Techs and Biologists. Expect recommendations and treatment to vary depending upon inspection/identification results.
